Basic classroom and equipment safety.
Goal: Get children excited about becoming young creators, engineers, and problem-solvers.
11:10 – 11:30 AM | Basic Electronics Concepts
20 minutes
Topics:
What is electricity?
What is an electronic circuit?
Positive (+) and negative (–)
Open vs. closed circuits
Introduction to basic components:
Battery
LED
Resistor
Switch
Wires
Motor
Hands-On Demonstration:
Parents and children work together to create a simple circuit and see how electrical energy can power an LED or motor.
Goal: Understand that electronic components work together to make machines and robots operate.
11:30 AM – 12:10 PM | Build Your Robotics Project
40 minutes
Topics:
What is a robot?
How does a robot move?
Introduction to:
Motors
Wheels
Wires
Battery holder
Switch
Robot structure
Hands-On Project:
🤖 Build Your Own Mini Robot
Parents and children will:
Identify the robot components.
Assemble the robot structure.
Install the motor and moving components.
Connect the electrical components.
Install the battery.
Test the robot.
Troubleshoot the robot if necessary.
Goal: Learn how electronics, engineering, and mechanical components work together.
Take-Home Project #1: Each child takes home the robot they assembled.
12:10 – 12:30 PM | Introduction to 3D Printing
20 minutes
Topics:
What is 3D printing?
What is a 3D printer?
How does a 3D printer create an object?
What is filament?
Introduction to 3D design.
How digital designs become physical objects.
3D Printing Process:
IDEA → DESIGN → SLICE → PRINT → CREATE
Live Demonstration:
Children and parents observe a 3D printer in operation and learn how an object is created layer by layer.
12:30 – 12:50 PM | 3D Printing Mini Project
20 minutes
🖨️ Create Your Mini 3D Project
Parents and children will participate in selecting or personalizing a simple 3D design.
Possible projects:
STEM keychain
Mini robot
Rocket
Gear
Name tag
STEM symbol
The instructor will explain the design and printing process while the children see their project being produced.
Take-Home Project #2: Each child receives their mini 3D-printed creation.
12:50 – 1:00 PM | Show & Tell + Closing
10 minutes
Children will:
Show their robotics project.
Show their 3D-printed creation.
Share something they learned.
Test and demonstrate their robot.
Parent Discussion:
Brief explanation of how parents can continue encouraging STEM learning at home.
🎓 Class Completion
Each child finishes the first Imagine Create STEM class having experienced:
